India – Permits Foundation continues to campaign for right to work for spouses of intra-corporate transferees
07 June 2016Permits Foundation has written again to the Minister of State for Home Affairs and the Minister of State for External Affairs to discuss our proposal that spouses of intra-corporate transferees be allowed to work.
Meetings last year with both ministers indicated broad support for a visa policy change. However, despite the consensus that this would be a progressive step, action has not yet been taken.
With India opening up to the world under Prime Minister Modi’s proactive global diplomacy along with the national ‘Make in India’ programme, Permits Foundation argues that a more family friendly visa policy would help to make the country a preferred destination for global talent.
Internationally, 30 other countries now grant a right to work for spouses of intra-corporate transferees or other highly skilled staff. Indian families benefit from these measures when assigned abroad.
