Permits Foundation’s November headlines

19 November 2025

Read on for a quick overview of our latest activities, policy developments, recent collaborations and upcoming events.

US news: Increased uncertainty for H-4s with elimination of EAD automatic extension

The Department of Homeland Security announced that, from October 30th, the automatic extension of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) will be eliminated. Permits Foundation will be submitting a response to USCIS. Read our news item here.

India All Party Parliamentary Group visit

In October, Permits Foundation Chair Gill Gordon participated in the UK House of Lords All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on India. Gill provided the rationale behind our recommendation that spouses of intra-company transfer visa holders in India receive automatic work authorisation via their E-3X visa.

Roundtables in London and Paris

In the space of a week we spanned two countries, co-hosting our Paris Roundtable with Alstom on the 16th of October and then a corporate roundtable in London at the Forum for Expatriate Management on the 21st. It was wonderful to connect face-to-face with so many organisations and representatives who share a passion for partner support.

Our Blue Card explainer

With all participating Member States now implementing the Revised Blue Card Directive, our Legal Researcher Jen Volser has written an explainer, including the elements that employers of highly-qualified international employees with accompanying dependants should be aware of.

Permits Foundation’s new website is now live!

Permits Foundation is proud to announce the launch of our brand-new website. The new site is designed to better serve global mobility professionals, government representatives, and international family members with streamlined navigation, making it easier than ever for visitors to learn about our work in support of international dual careers.

Events and collaboration

We continue to raise the issue of international dual careers through events and media, watch our vodcast with Xpatweb, this Polity article about ongoing progress in South Africa, as well as blogs about our website and work, from our sponsors at AirInc and Global Connection.

On the 1st of December, the Expat Communication prize ceremony, recognising companies supporting partners, will take place at the Quai d’Orsay in Paris. We are delighted to be a part of this initiative (judging) which has the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We also look forward to speaking at the upcoming RES Forum, where there will be a focus on re-humanising global mobility. Do register before the 4th of December.
