Permits Foundation has written to Mr Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs in India, advocating for direct employment permission for spouses of intra-company transferees.
The letter, which requests a meeting with the Minister, highlights recent positive developments in India’s visa system. Permits Foundation applauds the creation of the E-3 visa category for intra-company transferees and E-3X for their spouses.
We propose that the Indian government make one further amendment to the conditions attached to the E-3X visa so that spouses holding an E-3X visa are permitted to take up employment or self-employment for the duration of the visa.
This amendment, welcomed by employers, mobile employees and families, would help to make India a preferred destination for the global talent pool.
