EU Council adopts directive on intra-corporate transfers

14 May 2014

A long-awaited Directive on Intra-Corporate Transfers was adopted yesterday by the European Council, following a positive vote in the EU Parliament in April. The Directive will make it easier for international companies to transfer managers, specialists and trainees to a branch in the EU, as well as allowing work in other Member States during the assignment. As a result of Permits Foundation’s lobby, family members will be entitled to take up employment or self-employment throughout the assignment. Member States have up to 30 months to transpose the Directive in their national legislation.
